There are a number of drag racing venues in the US and many of them play host to the NHRA annual regular season and championship events. However, not all of them qualify to be among the top 10. The following are some of the best drag racing venues in the US:
Norwalk
The family owned and operated Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park has been ranked top in the entire country. Apart from providing a great race track, you can also expect first class hospitality from this venue. Ask any racer or drag racing fan and they will tell you that the atmosphere in Norwalk, Ohio is what draws them back every year. Enough said. It is a stunning facility.
The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a fairly newer facility which has only been in operation for 16 years. It is not just one of the best venues in North America but also the place to for a fun time long after the race is over. But who said you should only go there for a race. You will definitely love this place.
Bristol
The city of Bristol, Tennessee is home to the Thunder Valley Raceway Park, a track that comes with a nice scenic setting. The track lies in between two mountains at the very bottom. A number of racers have always made a point of coming back here since the track opened in the 1990s.
Indianapolis
Did you know that Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Indianapolis hosts the most prestigious annual event in drag racing? It is here that racers get the biggest win in the series. Here, lots of great names in drag racing have been produced. In fact, it is the oldest race on the NHRA tour, 61 and it keeps going strong.
Sonoma & Pomona
Here are a pair of racetracks that aren’t just amazing owing to the quality of the track, but which provide an amazing view around and beyond. California has hills in the Sonoma Wine Country. It is into these that the tracks are curved. What a fun place to come for a weekend-long racing.
Charlotte
A number of drag racers and fans have made the zMAX Dragway a must-go. The racetrack is located just off the interstate in Concord, NC. It is here that the infamous 4Wide nationals are held. From the track, you will have access to a number of great local restaurants.
Maplegrove
There is a scenic track that was built in 1962 just outside small-town Mohton, PA. Numerous fans try not to miss drag races when they are held here every weekend. They seem not to care about bad weather.
If you have been to the Mile High Nationals, then you have seen the Bandimere Motor Speedway. It is a picturesque track on the NHRA Western Swing tour and stands slightly one mile above sea level.
